"Excellent choice," says the singer when you ask for Forged in the Sun. He nods to the drummer, who strikes up a martial beat that brings to mind a young warrior setting off with great determination on an important quest. Quickly, you are absorbed in the fast-moving story.
Forged in the Sun is based on Fire on the Water, the beloved second instalment in the Lone Wolf fantasy gamebook series by Joe Dever. The song catalogues Lone Wolf's epic journey across the ocean, through the Wildlands, into Durenor and back to Sommerlund.
Between the narrative verses comes the chorus, which opens up to explore the emotions Lone Wolf feels as he takes hold of the legendary Sommerswerd. The three pre-choruses each deal with a separate villain: a Helghast, the traitorous Vonotar and, of course, the Darklord Zagarna...

Come my son, you're the only one
Who can wield the power of our last hope
Go east through the waves; you have forty days
Before the dark will take hold
Ragadorn comes with sultry eyes
Dressed in gold and beggars' chains
She'll stab you in the back as she looks in your eye
Walk away with a knowing smile
There's a deep, dark tunnel through to Hammerdal
I seek the blade that can save us all
Helghast you don't mean nothing to me
You're nothing at all
You're nothing at all
I had a dream it would feel like this
Sun burning bright beyond my fist
Fire burns, burns in me
I never
I never dreamed I'd be standing here
Sun shining light through all my fears
Fire burns, burns in me
Who among the passengers
Hides black steel and the serpent's mark
The knights, the girl, the businessman
Or the priest with the shifty eyes?
Alin's men take to the sea
An evil moon haunts the waves
Death hulks gather in the fog
Crewed by things from the ocean's grave
A hunchback man in crimson robes
Snake, black staff: he's Toran's shame
Coward you don't mean nothing to me
You're nothing at all
Nothing at all
Let's join in battle
I'll kill you all
There'll be fire on the water
Fire in the air tonight
Now I return to Sommerlund
I carry the blade forged in the Sun
Darklord you don't mean nothing to me
You're nothing at all
No you're nothing at all
Nothing at all
Nothing at all
No you're nothing at all
